joy and sadness...

Today I am totally amazed at myself, it is early and I have not even dressed for the day, yet my mind is on things I need to relay via my blog. I find many times that just small ordinary things in life often can lead you to a thought about what just might be my content for a blog one day. Since I do not get out a whole lots and do not want to dwell soley on my family, I have at times run out of things to blog about. But not the case today.

I am joyful to hear that Melissa Greer, the WBTV weather girl I prefer to call her, has arrived home with Baby Connor. They were flown back to Charlotte on Thursday on a medical jet provided by Carolina's Medical Ctr in Charlotte where Baby Connor will remain until he is able to go home. Melissa had to finish up some treatments in Iowa and is now weighing her options on possible treatments in Europe. Her cancer is not gone. Therefore, please continue with your prayers. She and Roger are just proud parents of this baby and Melissa is eagar to get back to work and to her normal life. I hope and pray that will be possible for her and her family.

One of my regular blogs that I read and such an inspiring blogger, Beverly, over at Butterflies has written a blog about her life with James, who was stricken with cancer. She and James had so much faith in God and love for each other, that each post was filled with blessings and her thankfulness and love for James. James went to be with the Lord on 02-24-07. Although James is from America, Beverly is a New Zealander and they lived happily and simply in New Zealand. May you also remember and keep Beverly in your prayers. She has been one of the most positive and loving wife that James could have ever had. Though it is sad, knowing James is no longer suffering makes it so much easier to accept. God Bless you Beverly, fellow blogger and dear friend.

Things are going so much better healthwise around here for us. Jerrell's vision and blurriness is getting better as his body is adjusting to the sugar shock he went through and leveling out which means his eyes are accepting the correct sugar level now as opposed to the sudden change in it. I have been more than blessed with those 4 little pills that I take daily for the angina. It is wonderful to get up in the morning without the dread of having an attack. I realize that in a sense it is only masking the angina, but quality of life often is better than quantity.

I am adjusting quite well to cooking and eating differently although my body is craving some of the good things I love. My good friend Paulette is coming down on Monday and we have already decided we care to pig out on pizza and do some shopping and I think that is just what the doctor ordered for me. I am really looking forward to her visit. I am also looking forward to going to see her as she just bought her a new leather sofa, chair, ottoman and another new chair for her bedroom. She decorates like a professional and I know she will have her new curtains and tablecloth, etc and it will be lovely to see when I go to her house. Also, just maybe something funny will happen. Will be a first, if not. :)

I do declare I think I must get going and get me some clothes on and meet the day head on, although a bit behind, but time is all I have right now, so I never had a need to hurry. I can like that! I hope you all have a great weekend!

God Bless!

a rainy day here...

Things are moving along wonderful here, many changes have been made in the kitchen, my favorite place, NOT! I am learning to cook the right foods for Jerrell and we both are surviving but not always full or excited over the meals we are now becoming a bit accustomed to.

I have been a regular watcher of Court TV since the David Westerfield trial or the Scott Peterson trial and right now I am not sure which came first. Since the first day of January 2002 I have been unable to work and became a regular tv watcher and computer user. I have to admit that the last few weeks has been quite addictive with the Anna Nicole Smith saga. I have been glued to the tv watching history being made in our judicial system. Never have I or any of the commentators seen a hearing handled in the manner that this judge is doing in this very important matter.

I have been AWOL from my blog for a number of reasons lately and other than tv, I also enjoy going to the Court TV chat channel and hearing others opinions on this matter and of course general chat from what one is having for dinner to another having a colonoscopy. I have used the program, mIRC, since 1998 and have my own channel that I am still a channel operator in and have met many wonderful folks with whom I still keep in touch with today. I call it my channel because that is the only channel I ever went to at the time. The owner is actually a nice lady from Maine. I am just there to assist newbies to learn how to use mIRC and kick or ban folks that cannot behave. Some days in CTV I chat, others I just "lurk" as they call it in chat. So if any of you folks enjoy chatting, I highly recommend mIRC and also Court TV can be accessed through Java at the Court TV website.

I do make the time to read all my usual blogs and see what is happening in all you good folk's lives. I had far rather read other blogs than blog myself. I have a full day doing the things I have to do and of course doing the things I enjoy as I have just mentioned. Jerrell's mom is demanding more and more attention from us as she is nearing her 91st birthday. The Lord has truly blessed her with extra good health, but her mind is becoming more and more a concern as far as her living alone. As in everything we have put it all in the Lord's hands and we literally take a day at a time. We trust Him to use his wisdom and to let us know when and what should be done. We are neither well, but God has blessed us far more than even we can imagine.

We also have been thinking more of things that have not been done that needs being done. Two things that are of utmost importance to us at this time is to purchase cemetary plots and make a will. We have a will, although many have said it would be honored, I would feel much better to have to it prepared by a lawyer and registered legally at the courthouse. We do not want to leave the boys with dealing with something they should not have to. Now the basement clutter they will have to handle. :) Ain't quite up to that, but figure they can dispose of what they deem necessary at the time.

It is rainy here today, but it is suppose to be in the mid 60's and that I can like. I am really really ready for spring this year. We have not mustered up a good snow out of this winter, so lets just get on with the spring.

Gotta run, hope all you folks have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by.

God Bless!

no 100 for moobear...

After reading 100 things about Clara and Jana , I thought I would try and come up with 100 things about me. I got to 30 and found out just how boring I am and why further bore others and make a silly old woman outta me. So I quit, just can't do it. :)

I live a very simple life by choice, I do not like change as a rule. Of course there are exceptions in life, but as a rule if things ain't broke, I just tend to leave them alone. My Lord and my family are my life, so I cannot ask for much more than that. I enjoy family and friends. The way I see it, no one can ever have too many friends. Many are closer than others, but all loved regardless. Lots of folks like to make mountains over mole hills or differ with one another to the point of being down right ugly or hit toward it. I just do not think that is right, therefore I choose to bite my tongue more often than not. At the same time, should I offend someone and I know that I have, I must always apologize. I have even apologized at times that I was not at fault as I do not like conflict.

When we have all the blessings of life we should enjoy them, not take them likely and although my life is not filled with going here or there or having this or that, I am happy to be alive and have my wonderful husband and my sons. I take nothing for granted anymore. There were times in my life when I did, but with God's graces and wisdom, I know where my priorites are and I am comfortable knowing I am doing what is right and decent. No, I am not perfect nor are any of you. I see improvements needing to be done in my life and I work towards achieving that each day. I am blessed by having the good Lord guiding me and letting me know when I am going astray. God is good to me and has been to me since I accepted him into my life.

It is amazing the number of friends one can make via our computers. Many have been made with my blog and I choose to take a personal interest in some of them personally and find there are many that have so much in common with me. Distance only keeps us from meeting each other in some cases, but takes nothing away from the friendship.

I am personally emotionally involved in the ANS case because of the baby without a mom and all the fussing going on about this and that. The poor lady cannot even be buried in the ground because she is buried in the court system. It is a charade. I am not the least impressed with the judge in Florida who is suppose to be dealing only with seeing that the proper person gets the remains so she can be buried. I think it is a shame that she is treated any different than you or I would if we died. I personally think her mom should have her body and I think ANS would want to be buried by her son Daniel, who just died less than 6 months ago. I have been watching it as it comes on Court TV and that is usually what I watch during the day. I pray for all concerned that the best interest of the baby is first and foremost in this yet another tragedy in this family.

I have accomplished one thing today. I did make it to the grocery store this morning. Jerrell's doctor was well pleased with Jerrell's sugar readings and he was taken off one of his meds and he only has to check his sugar once a day now instead of two. I am thankful I have been able to see that I cook the things he should be eating. I may become lean and mean just like him fore long. NOT...lol

All you folks have a great day and thanks for putting up with me.

God Bless!

Meaning of the Flag drapped coffin

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY FOLKS!

Meaning of Flag Draped Coffin

All Americans should be given this lesson. Those who think that America is an arrogant nation should really reconsider that thought. Our founding fathers used GOD's word and teachings to establish our Great Nation and I think it's high time Americans get re-educated about this Nation's history. I find this to be very, very interesting and I think the folks that read my blog will appreciate its content. It makes me even prouder of having my dad's flag that draped his casket months before I was born. It has even more of a special meaning for me now 62 years later!

I hope you take the time to read this..... To understand what the flag draped coffin really means..... Here is how to understand the flag that laid upon it and is surrendered to so many widows and widowers. Do you know that at military funerals, the 21-gun salute stands for the sum of the numbers in the year 1776?

Have you ever noticed the honor guard pays meticulous attention to correctly folding the United States of America Flag 13 times? You probably thought it was to symbolize the original 13 colonies, but we learn something new every day!

The 1st fold of the flag is a symbol of life

The 2nd fold is a symbol of the belief in eternal life.

The 3rd fold is made in honor and remembrance of the veterans departing the ranks who gave a portion of their lives for the defense of the country to attain peace throughout the world.

The 4th fold represents the weaker nature, for as American citizens trusting in God, it is to Him we turn in times of peace as well as in time of war for His divine guidance

The 5th fold is a tribute to the country, for in the words of Stephen Decatur, "Our Country, in dealing with other countries, may she always be right; but it is still our country, right or wrong."

The 6th fold is for where people's hearts lie. It is with their heart that They pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States Of America, and the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.

The 7th fold is a tribute to its Armed Forces, for it is through the Armed Forces that they protect their country and their flag against all her enemies, whether they be found within or without the boundaries of their republic.

The 8th fold is a tribute to the one who entered into the valley of the shadow of death, that we might see the light of day.

The 9th fold is a tribute to womanhood, and Mothers. For it has been through their faith, their love, loyalty and devotion that the character of the men and women who have made this country great has been molded.

The 10th fold is a tribute to the father, for he, too, has given his sons and daughters for the defense of their country since they were first born.

The 11th fold represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon and glorifies in the Hebrews eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

The 12th fold represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in the Christians eyes, God the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit.

The 13th fold, or when the flag is completely folded, the stars are uppermost reminding them of their nations motto, "In God We Trust."

After the flag is completely folded and tucked in, it takes on the appearance of a cocked hat, ever reminding us of the soldiers who served under General George Washington, and the Sailors and Marines who served under Captain John Paul Jones, who were followed by their comrades and shipmates in the Armed Forces of the United States, preserving for them the rights, privileges and freedoms they enjoy today.

There are some traditions and ways of doing things that have deep meaning. In the future, you'll see flags folded and now you will know why.

Share this with the children you love and all others who love what is referred to, the symbol of "Liberty and Freedom."

God Bless!

I have no shame...

I am not ashamed to tell you folks just what I did today. Most folks just do not air their ignorance in writing for all the world to see, but then they are not Moobear :) I am nearing 63 years of age and I have to admit, confess or outright tell ya'll that I ain't never darted in the door of a SUBWAY joint. Until today...

Now I have eaten from SUBWAY several years back when I worked. A co-worker would pick up a sub along with other things for lunch every now and then as I usually packed a lunch and did not take an hour for lunch. With that job, it made no difference, I could have eaten all day if I had wanted to. I remembered just enough to know that whatever combo he got was an outstanding sub as far as subs go. Jerrell does not like them or the sound of them as with many other things that I can like.

I had a need to run down to the Dollar General store to pick up a few needed items. Since the sub shop is just next door, I had the bright idea of getting me a sub, hopefully like the ones I used to eat at work. Of course when I walked in, I first scoped the place to see just how many folks I just might be embarassing myself in front of. Since it was 12 noon there was a few folks already eating at the table and about 5 in the line which was a plus as I looked at the menu and the trays of goodies. I hafta to be honest the girl in front of me helped me a lot. She began getting things that I liked and also things I vaguely remembered the ones I ate having had on them. So when the girl in front said extra pickles, so did I, cause I love pickles on them. Pretty much she got all I wanted cept she got bologna on hers and I didn't. She also got the vinegarette on it as I do well remember that being especially good. To be more dumb, I told the girls this was my first time ever in a SUBWAY and they were very helpful to this ole fool. I checked out with only having spent a bit over $3 and headed for home. I might add, I made it in and out with little to no one noticing me at all and I thanked the girl in front of me for her help. And yes, I think I just might go back again.

I am finishing this post now much later in the evening as Steph called and told me she and Caroline were on their way and within 5 minutes I was in Grandma heaven and this post will have to wait until tomorrow. I had a wonderful time as usual with Steph and Caroline and I will share with you good folks tomorrow.

I am outta here. Thanks for the visits and the comments. You are a great bunch of folks!

God Bless!

Melissa Greer has her baby...

Melissa, the weather girl on WBTV had her baby by C-section at the University of Iowa Hospital yesterday. According to the paper this morning, Baby Connor weighed in at 3lbs. and 3 ozs. and came into the world screaming, her dad, Roger said. I say Praise the Lord! There were many prayers for Melissa and they are still needed. She got to see the baby for a few moments with a great smile and underwent surgery which went well into the night last night. The tumor was not as large as they thought as the previous chemo had helped to shrink it some. They were to do an additional procedure later in the night after the surgery to remove the tumor. Please continue to keep Melissa, Connor, Roger and entire families in your prayers.

Jerrell and I both had doctor's appointments this week. I found out some additional info on my heart when I saw the doctor. I felt much better after seeing exactly where the blockage was and the amount of blockage. I am thankful I have a good cardiologist here in town I can count on.

Jerrell went to the ENT and we got news that was not good. The doctor said he had no infection or fluid and after doing the hearing test, he said he had no hearing at all in the left ear and 75% in the right. The reason it feels stopped up to Jerrell and has the static in it, is because he is deaf in that ear. The dizziness is also associated with it, confirmed with what they call a Tilt test. As for his blurry vision, possibly his body adjusting to the sudden change in his blood sugar.

Oh yes, we are eating different and it is no fun. We will take the classes on diabetes starting on March 8. We do know that carbohydrates play a big role in maintaining your sugar level. We will learn hopefully from the class all that we need to know. Until then as always, we are taking a day at a time and making the very best of it.

Welp my precious Caroline turned 1-year-old on the 1st of February. Steph sent me birthday pictures and a video. I will post some pictures later. LOL, Caroline did not like her birthday cake and would not eat any of it, so Steph gave her an apple and she was quite content with that. I feel a visit coming soon and as usual I can't wait!

As with most of you folks, it has been very, very cold here for the last while, but today it feels like spring outside. I was just out and shirtsleeves would be fine. I am really looking forward to spring this year. Staying in the house will give ya cabin fever and I can't like it. Roxy does not understand why she does not get the long walks, especially more walks from Jerrell. He has not felt like walking her as much since he has been sick. He does walk her often, just not as much as her little heart wants!

I thought I might outta check in with you folks. Also, if things go well I will be getting a camera. My oldest son told me Sunday night that his wife bought them a new camera on her trip to Flordia the other week so they had an extra one. Getting it to me may hafta wait til their 2007 visit. But I can wait. I am looking forward to having one so I can share some pictures with you. I hope you all have a good day wherever you are. Take care and stay safe.

God Bless!

Snow, snow, now rain...

Do not pay no attention to that weather pixie girl on my sidebar, cause it ain't no where near right and I checked and re-checked the settings. Oh well, the temp is close, but a bit low. I thought I best get a post on here and move Melissa down a bit. Bless her heart, she is in Iowa this week and according to the news, the oncologist there thinks that he has some treatment that will help her. She thanks everyone for the emails, calls and prayers. I do wish her well.

We had our first snow today. It was so pretty coming down when I got up about 7:30 this morning. Jerrell was gone to work, but worked only an hour and he got off and came home. It has piddled around all morning and now the forecast calls for possibly freezing rain and ice when the temp drops this afternoon late. I do hope there is no power outtages. Other than that, I don't really care what it does. I am quite warm in the house and no hairdo today as they are closed. I am doing what I do best..Nothing.

Although I did muster up enough energy to cook some chili beans, they are simmering now, but Jerrell cannot eat the amount he is accustomed to; we always like them on snowy days and no- no, we cannot alter our lifestle that much and not have chili beans on our one -day- yearly- snow.

I have decided that Jerrell is finally falling apart. He just keeps adding more problems on his plate. He now thinks since his ear is still stopped up and even though he has an appointment with a ENT on Monday, he is convinced that he has a bad ear and it needs removing. I do not think that desperately, but then it ain't my ear that is stopped up. It does however resemble my way of thinking on most things.

And no Roxy does not like snow! She will not put her little prissy butt down on that pretty white snow, therefore I am thinking she must be tinkling in the house so I keep a checkin for that. She did do all her business early this morning fore any snow fell so that part I ain't worried about. She cannot like snow, while I am loving it and of course Jerrell is complaining as he has never cared for it since he quit teaching school. Now wonder why??? btw, there is no schools in the city or county here today.

This new and improved Blogger has been down all morning and I gotta email this morning asking where my blog went, so I have about got this one finished up and I am curious to see if I can get it to publish. IMO this changeover was totally worthless and I certainly have seen no signs of less problems!

I guess I might outta go and spend some time with Jerrell while he is awake. He is getting like me, can't get no sleep at night, but he can sleep in his recliner and I can't! So just to let you good folks know I was still around, I thought I would post something today.
Will try to do better when these wheels quits turning.

God Bless!
